TRANSFORMATIVE MEDIATION
Transformative mediation is based on Transformative Theory which teaches:
- Conflict is a crisis of human interaction
- People in conflict want most of all to change (transform) their interaction from destructive to constructive
- People at times need help restoring constructive interaction
- Transformative mediators' job is to help achieve this transformation by supporting opportunities for recognition and empowerment
- People to find acceptable terms of resolution for themselves when they feel heard (recognized) and empowered
"We all experience it in our lives, whether with family members, coworkers, or individuals in our community. Often these disagreements are minor enough that they can be easily resolved. Occasionally, however, interpersonal conflicts grow beyond the point where an easy solution is possible"

"The courts of this country should not be the places where resolution of disputes begins. They should be the places where the disputes end after alternative methods of resolving disputes have been considered and tried."
